Intermediate Patchwork and Quilting Course

Intermediate Patchwork and Quilting Class

2017 Second Tuesday monthly! -10 sessions

 10th Oct; 7th Nov*; 12th Dec; 16th Jan; 13th Feb; 13th Mar; 10th April; 8th May; 12th June; 10th July. – 9.30 am – 1.30.  £200

This course gives you 4 hour intense sessions teaching a variety of more challenging quilting techniques. You can  make a Sampler Quilt of blocks or a set of cushions so that you can acquire the new techniques and become a proficient Intermediate Quilter! The variety of techniques learned are: strip piecing; foundation piecing; inset seams;  applique; strip sets; sashiko; celtic knots;  and many others which are fun to learn and to add to your repetoire of techniques you have mastered!  This class challenges and inspires for sure –

The quilt will have sashing between the blocks, a flange inside the border, and a border of 4” – or more if you want but you will need to buy extra fabric. Our last meeting will discuss your individual quilting plans for each of your quilts as well as the basics of free motion quilting.

The quilt will be approximately 52” square with the 4” border. I have not been either generous or too mean with the amounts below – if you are inclined to err in your cutting or working, or for that matter want more blocks than the nine we have made, then I suggest you up each of your favourites. Enjoy –
Cost: £200 for 10 x 4 hour sessions

Each individual session can be booked – £25

Fabric requirements:

Background fabric: 1 metre – light and/or dark – the quilt has 5 13” square backgrounds – I will be using at least 2 different fabrics – some light and some dark.
Focus fabric: this will be in most blocks and/or can be the border as well. 1 metre
8 complementary to Focus fabric, fabrics: – light – light medium to medium to medium, dark to dark
1/3 metre of 4 of the fabrics – light to dark – you decide
1/4 metre of 4 others; Flange: 1/8 yard
Sashing: 5/8 yard
Border: 3/4 yard
Sashiko: 13” square for background, sashiko thread and needles –
